Vision 2020 wins African Media Cup

Kigali,  6 November 2016, the leaders’ team “Vision 2020” whelmed the journalists’ sports team “AJSPOR”2-0 in a friendly match played on Sunday 6th November 2016 at National Stadium Amahoro Remera.

The football match between Journalists and Government leaders geared towards building relations between journalists and leaders and  to create another platform for the two sides to meet and discuss their working relations especially in the field of access to public information.

The Match was organized  by the Media High Council   in collaboration with other institutions underpinning media development which include; Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), Rwanda Journalists Association (ARJ) and the self-regulatory body (RMC) and The Acssiation of Journalists (ARJ) with the support of UNDP.

Speaking to the participants, Peacemaker MBUNGIRAMIHIGO  the Executive Secretary of the Media High Council said that this activity demonstrated the solidarity between the Government and the media sector.

 Such competitions are a landmark that ensures good collaboration between the Government officials and journalists. This game is also an indicator of Access to information law promotion  .” stressed Peacemaker

Peacemaker congratulated  journalists team for the effort they showed during this match according to the last match when the Vision 2020 FC won the cup after scoring the match, 6 to 2 against their counterpart.

Senetor Makuza Bernard who  elected  as “ the best prayer from vision 2020 fc, encouraged journalists to tell they own story.

“Media is the fourth power, Media play a good role to boost counrty development, I encourage rwandan journalists to use their power  in publishing our own story , Do  not wait foreign journalists to tell our story” said Makuza

The football match was organized  to mark  the African Information Week that  included the following activities: Radio and TV  talk shows, Africa media cup, Africa information day, 8th Rwanda Media Dialogue 2016, presentation of Impamyabigwi’s imihigo, Launch of Rwanda Media Barometer 2016 Edition, Development Journalism awards, Journalists’ support to community.
